WELCOME TO YOUR PRIVATE CHANNEL, MIYADERA. FOR SECURE COMMUNICATION, USE 018.07.154.55 *** MIYADERA has joined 018.07.154.55 <MIYADERA> Hello. <MIYADERA> I am not at my laptop at the moment, but if you have any questions concerning the cultural origins of your species or wish to discuss anthropology in general, do not hesitate to leave a message. | ||||

<Miyadera>
Unfortunately, no. I seem to have joined the ranks of the undead. [As in, he was drafted into the skeleton war. Not that he'd freely give that information out.]
What of yourself? Surely, you know better than to ask such questions without reciprocation, yes?
<c>
Lol... It's not actually funny but I thought I was undead for a while. I thought my skin was rotting, but apparently that was just my brain being silly! I don't know what I'll be yet. Want to know the few indicators and make a bet?
<Miyadera>
I don't see the harm in trying. Shall we start with the state of your skin?
<c>
Texture and toughness seems to be the same, but I do have spots along the sides of me. Dark grey.
<Miyadera>
Your case seems to be the opposite of that.
Have you noticed any other changes so far?
<c>
My teeth and nails seem harder. They're also sharper, as are my senses of smell, sight, hearing, and taste.
<Miyadera>
Perhaps you're becoming some sort of animal? No offense, but if I remember correctly the more beastly monsters (e.g. manticores and werewolves) tend to have enhanced senses. While this could also apply to vampires, I don't believe I've known any with that sort of skin.
Have you noticed any behavioral differences?
<c>
I haven't, but it's possible they exist. The biggest behavioral difference was due to the band of monsters that played in that festival, recently, rather than this transformation.
<Miyadera>
[Oh dear. He'd seen the effects himself, but hasn't experienced them firsthand.]
Perhaps we'll have to wait and see what other manifestations crop up, won't we?
<c>
[Not...really, he's got it sorted for the time being, but he wants to dip his toe in these waters with the other man anyway. So:]
Things here are quite different than back home for me, so I don't know how up to date their medication and treatment of mental health disorders are. Since you're an anthropologist~ I wonder if you might know something like that. Given how taboo it all is, I want to do my best to increase the odds of a positive outcome.
<Miyadera>
I do know there is a monster-friendly therapist employed at the Crowe Clinic, but I'm unsure of his actual methods. Other than that, it appears that the technology and culture of the peninsula seems to resemble Europe in the 1950's. I can only assume the insane are treated at psychiatric wards in hospitals rather than housed in asylums, but the treatment might feel a bit barbaric if you're from the 2010's.
Keep in mind, I've been currently studying Ryslig as a whole, and I've only been here for two months. Perhaps I could do some more research on the matter and get back to you?
<c>
That's more information than I expected, if I'm being honest. If you don't mind looking into it, I would appreciate it greatly, but it isn't necessary if there are more pressing matters for you.
<Miyadera>
I'll keep that in mind if that doesn't seem too important to you...
Unless you had a different reason to bring up the matter.
<c>
Now now, I didn't say it wasn't important to me. You've given me enough that I at least have a starting point, is all. I'm interested in hearing more, but I wouldn't want to impose on your own studies.
<Miyadera>
Why did you ask to begin with? Were you worried about being tortured by the medical staff?
