Perhaps you're becoming some sort of animal? No offense, but if I remember correctly the more beastly monsters (e.g. manticores and werewolves) tend to have enhanced senses. While this could also apply to vampires, I don't believe I've known any with that sort of skin. Have you noticed any behavioral differences?
